IRS Issues 1031 Deadline Extensions for North & South Carolina

Disaster Timeline Extentions 10 22

Due to Hurricane Ian, the IRS has issued extensions of the 45-day and 180-day deadlines for the entire states of North Carolina and South Carolina. This is in addition to the extensions the IRS previously issued for the entire state of Florida.

The tax relief postpones various tax filing and payment deadlines that occurred starting on September 25, 2022 in South Carolina and September 28 in North Carolina. As a result, affected individuals and businesses will have until February 15, 2023, to file returns and pay any taxes that were originally due during this period.

You can read the details related to the extensions below:

Florida: IRS Notice FL-2022-19, September 29, 2022

North Carolina: IRS Notice NC-2022-10, October 5, 2022

South Carolina: IRS Notice SC-2022-06, October 5, 2022

The IRS is offering relief to any area designated by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). The current list of eligible localities is always available on the disaster relief page on IRS.gov.
